Wylie Hall of Honor member Don Blackburn passed away Dec. 20 at the age of 83.
Blackburn was a 1953 Wylie graduate, a Wylie parent and a longtime Wylie school board member.
He helped lead the board during its immense growth of the 1990s, serving 15 years on the board and five of them as board president. For his immense contributions to the district, he was inducted into the Wylie Hall of Honor in 2015.
“You couldn’t find a better person,” longtime friend and fellow Hall of Honor member Leland Robinson said. “If he tells you something, you can take it to the bank.”
