Wylie Growl magazine welcomes Kristen Johnson as the new editor. Johnson brings extensive experience in both publishing and education.
“This position is truly full-circle for me since I worked in publishing for seven years before becoming a teacher and then teaching for more than 12 years,” said Johnson. “Being editor of the Wylie Growl allows me to bring two things I am passionate about together.”
Most recently, Johnson taught Sixth Grade Social Studies at Wyle West Junior High, completing her sixth-year teaching in WISD. Johnson said she looks forward to bringing to life what she experiences on a regular basis as a teacher.
“It’s been a great privilege to teach the awesome kids at Wylie as well as work alongside so many fantastic people. Now, I get the opportunity to tell the many outstanding accomplishments our students, staff and alumni are making in our community and beyond.”
Johnson looks forward to building off of what long-time editor Candy Reagan created.
“Mrs. Reagan made the Wylie Growl what it is today, which is a wonderful magazine. I love reading it as a parent and used it in my classroom,” said Johnson. “Getting to be the editor of a magazine I adore…well, it doesn’t get much better than that!”
