The Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation welcomed 54 new teachers to Wylie during its annual New Teacher Luncheon sponsored by Hendrick Health Systems.
The foundation presented the teachers with $100 gift cards to Mardel.
Also at the luncheon, Wylie art teacher Alexis Hughes was honored with the foundation’s annual “Spirit of the Bulldog” award. 
The award is given in honor of foundation president Becky Rentz, who is a retired teacher and the driving force behind the education foundation. It is presented to a teacher who has utilized WBEF Teacher Grant money to challenge and motivate students in a creative way.
Hughes has received grants in eight of the 11 years that they have been given and has used them for both art and biology.
