The Unified Bulldogs, a Special Olympics program at Wylie High School that partners students with and without disabilities to compete in sporting events, was recently named a National Unified Champion School by Special Olympics.
Wylie’s program is one of eight statewide holding this certification, only being established in 2023.
To be recognized as a National Champion school, the Wylie program must demonstrate a commitment to inclusion by meeting ten standards of excellence; they are expected to reapply every four years to show these standards are being maintained.
Three main focuses of the program are youth leadership, participating in unified sports and activity and whole school engagement.
A big congratulations to our Unified Bull-dogs for achieving such recognition that goes along with their State Champion title!
