The Wylie High School chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) has six students, from the 32 students who advanced to the State competition, qualify for the Educators Rising National Competition, which takes place this summer in Portland, Oregon. Representing
Wylie on the national stage (L-R) is Khloe Fickes, Hayden Hood, Hope Rogers, Julianne Feightner, Hannah Bailey, and Emma Pace.
Teacher Amber Jansa, who is the sponsor for Wylie’s chapter of TAFE, said this is the second group to represent Wylie at this level with the first group graduating this May.
“This graduating class is the first one who had students medal at nationals,” said Jansa. “Jenna Thompson (3rd Children’s Literature), Taylor Wood (2nd and 3rd Creative Lecture-consecutive years), Josh Corrigan (1st Public Speaking). They also qualified in Ethical Dilemma.”
TAFE is a statewide co-curricular Career and Technical Student Organization that provides young people with the opportunity to explore the teaching profession. Jansa said the growth in TAFE at Wylie High School is exciting, and that she is excited to see the success of these young ladies this summer.
