Students from the B.U.I.L.D. class at Wylie West Jr. High took homemade Valentines Day cards to the residents at Mesa Springs last Friday.
Mrs. Wristen explains, “In B.U.I.L.D. we use curriculum called Habitudes by Tim Elmore. These lessons are character building and leadership concepts. Many of the Habitudes connect to adding value to the lives of others, big or small. We wanted to give our students an opportunity to engage in a service based project, so they can experience the rewards. Many of our students have never had the opportunity to participate in service oriented activities. Not only are they enriching the lives of others, but most see how it can enrich their own lives as well, and they are able to take a positive from the experience. We are hoping this will open the door for many of our students who may find they have a heart for being a servant leader.”
