Wylie ag students are living the ag life to its fullest now as they are in the throngs of show season, but living the ag life never takes a break. Students give a glimpse into the ag world, share advice, favorite moments, lessons learned and their passion for a lifestyle strung together with hard work, family time, friendships and many rewards in the show ring and out.
“My favorite memory is when I got Reserve overall at a jackpot this year.” Remington Phillips, Third Grade, WEE
“My favorite memory is definitely either staying in hotel rooms waiting to judge the next morning or when stock shows come around and you get to hang out with your friends.” Cashlin Farr, Senior
“My favorite memory of ag is definitely showing chickens this year!” Blane Sisco, Junior
“Missing school is both the best thing and the biggest challenge.” Jake Smart, Freshman
“The best thing about ag is getting to know my animals each year and the hardest is having to get rid of them each year at the shows because you get attached to them.” Tynlee Whitley, Fifth Grade, WEI
“It never hurts to try anything new, and I know our ag teachers will be there with open arms whenever you need it and who knows maybe you’ll love it like me.” Kadence Ferguson, Senior
“I’ve learned responsibility, to never give up, how to give a firm handshake and care for something before myself.” Leighton Phillips, Seventh Grade, WEJH
“I chose to be a part of ag after the FFA officers came in my class during my 8th grade year to introduce some of the electives Wylie offered. It seemed interesting and growing up I always had a love for animals and the ag industry, but I never knew how to get involved. When they came to our class to tell of everything you can do in ag, I immediately fell in love with it and knew that’s where I needed to be.” Macie Woolsey, Senior
“I have learned many things from being involved in agriculture. I have learned leadership, dedication, and hard work from participating in things like showing livestock to career development events. The dedication and hard work I have learned from involving myself in agriculture cannot compare to any other organization or activity in which I have been apart.” Jacklyn Fordyce, Senior
