Wylie United Methodist Church will serve as a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child this year, making it easy for Wylie residents to donate to the program.
Operation Christmas Child collects shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys and delivers them to children in need in more than 100 countries around the world. Often, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift a child has ever received.
Operation Christmas Child is a program of Samaritan’s Purse.
Collection week will be November 13-20, so if you would like to fill a shoebox and donate it to the program, you can easily drop off your donation at Wylie United Methodist Church at 3430 Antilley Road. The church office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Operation Christmas Child asks that you donate $9 per box to get it to the child. If you make the donation online, you can get a tracking label for your box that will allow you to see exactly where it went.
For more information on what to include and not include in your shoebox and how the program works, see the Operation Christmas Child website.
