August 2026 can’t come fast enough for the students and teachers moving into Wylie South Elementary. The new campus, which is located just west of the Buffalo Gap Road and FM 707 intersection, will house grades K-5 helping to decrease populations at some of the current westside schools. Wylie ISD Superintendent Joey Light said the zoning information should come out after school starts, but Wylie families living on the west side should expect a shift across the west side of the district.
“West Intermediate will now house third through fifth grades and West Junior High sixth through eighth grades,” said Light. “Zoning information may be as late as October.”
He also said staffing for the new campus will not be decided upon until the spring semester.
