Senior Lady Bulldog Joyah Maroney hit the 1,000-point mark and was honored after a home win over Lubbock Estacado on Dec. 13. Maroney, gave up playing volleyball and running track to focus on playing basketball, citing it as her “favorite” sport.
As Maroney reflected on her time playing a sport she has played since fourth grade and her accomplishment, she shared only sentiments of gratitude.
“I, first off, want to give glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, without him none of it would have been possible,” Maroney said. “I’m so grateful for all the people who have pushed me to be my best and have encouraged me all these years. As a senior, it feels amazing to accomplish something like this to end my career.”
Maroney will attend Texas A&M University in the fall to study Business Management and complete prerequisites for PA school.
