Wylie DI had an absolutely amazing showing at the Texas DI Affiliate Tournament with five teams qualifying for the Global Tournament and another just barely missing the cut.
The Wylie High School team ‘forced laughter’ won the state championship in the technical division. The team also had the highest instant challenge score and earned a Renaissance Award for outstanding engineering design.
Chalk It Up won 2nd place with their Project Outreach work honoring first responders. See more about this team of 5th-graders in the upcoming issue of Wylie Growl.
Oddly Uncommon finished in 3rd place in Project Outreach. The team of high schoolers worked with Mental Health of America on their challenge.
The Screaming Banana Goats (high school) finished in 5th place in the Engineering Challenge; and May-Ham (high school) finished in 5th Place in the Improv Challenge.
Boom! The Purple Alliance also finished in 5th Place in the Medical Mystery Challenge, but just missed the cut for Globals by THREE points. The students are in 3rd-5th grades.
The Pickled Leprechauns (5th-7th grades) finished in 8th place in the Engineering Challenge, and Metallic Chickens (6th grade) finished 11th in the Fine Arts Challenge.
The DI Global Competition is at the end of May in Kansas City, Mo. Congratulations DI on a great state competition!
