Dancing for a Difference

April 27, 2026

Winters (left) and Wiley all smiles as they compete at DWAS on Jan. 15.

Belles Director Kaelin Winters took her dancing and teaching talent beyond the walls of Wylie High School recently when she joined the team of pros that coach leaders in the Abilene community for Dancing With the Abilene Stars, the much-anticipated fundraising event for Hendrick Home for Children. This year’s event was held at the Abilene Convention Center.

Winters, who has been dancing since she was a two-year-old, said building relationships and using her ability to help others was rewarding. Her dance partner was local businessman Marcus Wiley, who owns Wiley’s Property Service and serves as the director of the non-profit organization 2-1-1 Texas in Abilene.

“I really loved working with Marcus! He was a wonderful partner, and we developed a really great friendship through the process,” said Winters. Dance is such a unique art in the way that it builds such great community and lifelong friendships, and it was really fun to get to welcome more people into that community who ordinarily wouldn’t be exposed to that familiar aspect of dance. That’s what I love so much about the whole concept of the show.”
