Most Impactful Activity, Class or Teacher
The class that impacted me the most was band. I’ve been in the Wylie band since the sixth grade, and it was such an amazing group to be a part of. They taught me so many things that have helped shape me into the person I am today.
Most Cherished High School Memory
High school was such a rush that I can’t pick just one moment. My favorites would have to be football games with the band though. The camaraderie and overall sense of spirit that the band achieves is so overwhelming. I love that everyone was having fun and that even when we were tired we still kept going.
Overcoming Challenge & The Lessons Learned
When I was a sophomore, I had to stop marching with the band because I sprained my ankle. I was moved from my spot on Drumline to the front ensemble and at the time it was horrible. The next year I stayed in the front ensemble because I was hesitant to march again, and I ended up having so much fun that I stayed for my senior year as well. The lesson I learned was to adapt and overcome. I was in a pretty undesirable situation, but I turned it into one of my favorite things I’ve done.
Advice on Succeeding in High School
I would say that you shouldn’t listen to anyone who tries to diminish you. Take the classes you want, join the clubs and activities, live your life. High school is your last chance to be a kid, so don’t take it for granted.
My Inspiration
I like to take inspiration from everything around me. Someday it may be a color and other days it could be a person. The world is such an inspiring place that sometimes all you have to do to find inspiration is look up.
Proudest Accomplishment
There’s not really one accomplishment that I’m most proud of but if I had to pick one it would be becoming a section leader for our percussion program. I love my fellow percussionists, and I’m so proud of them. I am so thankful that I got the opportunity to lead them and help them grow these past few years.
Who Knew?
I don’t think that there’s really anything people would find surprising about me. I’m a pretty open book with my peers and I can be pretty loud about my interests and hobbies.
Thank You So Much
I want to thank my family and my friends for sticking by me and helping me when I needed them most.
