Overcoming Challenge & Lessons Learned

During junior year, I struggled in a class where the material didn’t come easily to me. I was used to grasping things quickly, so it was frustrating to feel stuck. Instead of giving up or making excuses, I made the decision to ask for help and stay consistent in my efforts. This eventually brought my grade up. The challenge taught me that persistence matters more than momentary success.

Who Knew?

When I was in elementary school, we used to take my dog on walks up to Austin Elementary. Sometimes I would dig out a little hole under our fence so that the dog could get out and come to visit me at school. It would get me out of class, and it was great.

School Activity, Class or Teacher Impact

Student Council helped me to grow as a person and become more confident.

Most Cherished High School Moment

My favorite memory every year is participating in the 24-hour musical. It’s so chaotic and full of fun. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Advice for Underclassmen

Make time to prioritize yourself and your health. It’s so easy to get caught up in wanting to do everything. Being involved will make your high school experience great, but everything takes a toll on you if not done in moderation. When I think back on the moments that got me through it, it’s as simple as the times when I went on a walk or to the movies all by myself.

My Inspiration

My inspiration comes from my parents. Every day I see my parents do so much to better themselves and provide for their family. They work so hard to make sure that their children have everything that they need to be happy and successful. I receive so much of their unwavering, and sometimes undeserved, love and support.

A Proud Moment

One time, I won a Kahoot in Mr. Dowell’s class, so I got to smash a pie in his face. That was pretty cool.

Gratitude Check

Thank you to Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Martinez for always being there for me whenever I just needed someone to rant to.
