Class of 2025 Graduates: #18 Joshua Tawiah

May 14, 2025

University of Texas, Austin

Aerospace Engineering

School Activity, Class or Teacher Impact

Art has given me such a love for creativity and expression, I’m proud of what I create and the work it took to get there. PALS has given me so much perspective on who I am as a person. Though the main goal is to guide these kids, there is so much more that I took away from the class. Growing stronger emotionally has been such a wonderful unforeseen take away from the class.

Most Cherished High School Memory

The powdered chalk fight we had one day before the whiteout football game, such a great time.

Overcoming Challenge & Lessons Learned

Not getting into the college that I wanted was definitely a challenge, it was a humbling experience, but one that really helped me understand how much more I can work to excellence. I’m proud of where I am but nowhere near the top.

Advice for Underclassmen

Be a little stupid, this period of time is so flexible and is probably the best time you have to figure yourself out. Have temperance though, some decisions can have impacts for years and years, enjoy your time, be a little reckless, but don’t get lost in the revelry.

My Inspiration

The stories I consume do. A staple in nearly all of them is some character who has the most difficult journey to face, and they do it with so much tenacity. I realize these characters aren’t real, but I challenge myself to be as determined and foolishly resolute as they are.

A Proud Moment

My qualifying for state V.A.S.E for 2 years in a row is something I am really proud of. I’ve always loved art, and for my work that came from my brain to be deemed exemplary is pretty cool.

Who Knew?

I am Spiderman

Gratitude Check

My older sister has been a great help during high school, especially during college application season. She’s been such a consistently helpful source of information, and I would definitely be behind without her. Thanks sis.
