Academic Team Earns Silver Medals At State

Wylie’s Academic Team brought home three team silver medals from the State UIL Academic Meet in April.

The Math, Number Sense and Calculator teams all earned 2^nd place in the state competition. Sameer Haider led the Wylie effort by earning four silver medals. Sameer earned 2^nd individually in Calculator, and was a member of all three teams. He also finished 4^th individually in Number Sense.

The 2^nd place Math Team included Andrew Zhang, Connor Merket, Sameer Haider and Tanvi Shahane.

The 2^nd place Number Sense Team included Sameer Haider, Andrew Zhang, Anthony Zhang and Ian Sokolnicki.

The 2^nd place Calculator Team included Sameer Haider,  Addison Branch, Tanvi Shahane and David Tobey.

Andrew Zhang also finished 5^th individually in Number Sense, and Addison Branch finished 4^th individually in Calculator.

Other Wylie students who participated in the state meet included: David Tobey, Wyatt Witemeyer, Josh Kearney, Madeleine Barnett and Leah Fikes.
