As recent Wylie graduate London Groves begins freshman classes at ACU, she is contemplating what she would like to do professionally. However, what started as a hobby may sway her in a different direction. Groves began taking flight lessons at Lytle Aviation a little over four months ago. At the time, she was considering med school, but becoming a professional pilot may lend more towards her high-adventure lifestyle.
“It’s a lot different than driving a car in every aspect, and ground school is the most challenging because it’s self-taught with a lot of studying.”
Groves credits her interest in flying to a family friend who she has flown with while growing up. Her adventurous spirit and confidence (the latter she attributes to her time as captain of Junior Belles) pushes her to try pretty much anything she thinks looks fun. While pondering her career choices, Groves is living life to the fullest and has no intentions of holding back from more adrenalin-pumping activities. She said her next activity is wing-walking – being strapped to a plane’s wing and doing aerodynamic tricks! “Me not being old enough to rent a car to drive to Washington is the only thing keeping me from doing it.”
