If you have ever watched “D2: The Mighty Ducks” (1994) or “D3: The Mighty Ducks” (1996), then you watched a fellow Wylie Bulldog.
Class of 1996 Wylie High alumnus Ty O’Neal McClary played the character of Dwayne Robertson, the cowboy hockey player who joins the team when it represents the US in the Junior Goodwill Games.
McClary, who is credited as Ty O’Neal, appeared in ten movies. According to tvguide.com, he performed in Kevin Costner’s “The Postman,” Will Smith’s “Wild, Wild, West,” Colin Farrell’s “American Outlaws,” and “The Magnificent Seven” to name several. The native Abilenian didn’t depart from his cowboy ways in Hollywood. WISD Assistant Superintendent of School Operations Craig Bessent said McClary roped in junior rodeos at that time. Today, he is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and works at the Cowboy Channel, the official network of the Pro Rodeo.
