Wylie friends and families celebrated the life of alumnus Taylor Dye on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Dye graduated from Wylie High School in 2011, attending Wylie since kindergarten. His aunt, Bonnie Cowley, said Taylor loved being a Wylie Bulldog and the special friendship he had with Craig Bessent, who was his principal in intermediate school.
“He lived and breathed Wylie Bulldogs,” said Cowley. “We have more pictures of him and Bessent than with us.”
Bessent, who now serves as assistant superintendent of school operations for Wylie ISD, said Taylor was a young man who made a difference to him and so many.
“Taylor was very special to me and everyone at Wylie ISD. He was always happy and eager to please his teachers. He and I were very close, and I was lucky enough to get to spend a little time with him each day while he was at Wylie Intermediate School. He brightened my day up each time we were together,” said Bessent. “That friendship lasted all these years and has never changed. Taylor was a special young man whose impact on students and staff at Wylie ISD will never be forgotten. He will always have a special place in my heart.”
