Throughout the season, anglers from Wylie compete in tournaments hosted by various associations, opening their opportunity to get on the water more and sharpen their skills. The high school team competed in two state tournaments this season – the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) on May 18-19 on Lake Palestine and the Bassmaster Nation Youth State tourney on June 7-8 on Cedar Creek. Anglers were able to place daily as well as overall. Bulldog anglers did a great job bringing the big mouths in!
At the THSBA state tournament, seven anglers qualified and finished 13 of 114 as a team with a combined weight of 46.56 lbs. State qualifiers (pictured L-R) include: Carson Stone, Kale Trumble, Cash Stockard, Carson Martin, Sadee Blosser, Layton Anderson, and AJ Amonett. There were 195 teams, which translates to 390 anglers from all over the state competing for $66,500 in scholarship money.
At the Texas Bassmaster Nation Youth tournament, junior team Kale Trumble and Carson Stone placed fourth overall weighing in with 23.47 lbs. and placed seventh on Day 2. Junior AJ Amonett & his fishing buddy Carter Schnoor placed fourth on Day 1 with 13.57 lbs.
