What high school activity, class, or teacher most impacted who you are today?
I feel like the activity that impacted me most in high school would have to be Belles. The discipline, time management skills, and leadership lessons that I learned I will forever be grateful for. I learned a lot about myself as a person and as a dancer through Belles.
What is your most cherished memory in high school?
My most cherished memory in high school would have it be my first football game where I performed on the field for the Belles for the first time and then got to hang out with my friends in the band in the stands. As well as playing “It is Well” for the first time officially.
Share a time when you overcame a challenge and the lessons learned from it.
In high school, I decided to do a lot of activities at once because of my love for each of them, but this, in turn, made it difficult to time manage each of them. It was very difficult to balance all three activities and school, but I learned a very valuable lesson in communication and productivity. I learned to come out of my shell to talk to my teachers about conflicts and also how to properly set out a plan of action when conflicting schedules arise.
What advice would you give to under classmen about making the most out of their high school experience?
I would say that high school really does go by fast, and sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in feeling overwhelmed with work and things to do. But in the end, you will just be able to look back on all of the hard times as just a memory. So, make the most of your time by putting yourself out there and having fun. Don’t dwell on stressful moments, appreciate relationships and memories you are making.
Who or what gives you inspiration?
Definitely my parents give me my inspiration towards putting in hard work. Both of them are incredibly smart and talented, and they both worked for what they have. They have been nothing but supportive, and I strive to be like them.
What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
I think the accomplishment that I’m most proud of is being blessed with the opportunity to make leadership roles in two of the activities I did. It was very hard to find a way of properly contributing to both and to connect with those in the activities with me.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
Although I had to stop doing some of these for other activities, I actually did five other after school activities in high school — some for just a short period of time, but others I did through the entirety of high school.
Is there anyone you would like to thank for helping you reach this achievement?
Thank you to my family for all of your help and compassion! Thank you for your endless support and for always being there for me! I could not have done any of the things I did in high school or middle school without y’all!
