Spike came to life in 1988 when a larger than-life version of the beloved Wylie mascot, played by student Molly Anders, was added as a member of the cheer team.
Today, 35 years later, Spike is still making little fans smile as he entertains the fans and athletes at pep rallies and sporting events. Of course, he’s not a solo act anymore.
In 2020, the female bulldog Sandi joined Spike as his sidekick in his shenanigans. Sandi is named for Wylie’s former athletic director and head football coach, Hugh Sandifer. New to the mascot gig this year is junior Lobo Enduki and senior Kelsie Burleson.
