CELEBRATING AND SPREADING AWARENESS
This year, Wylie West Junior High celebrated Dyslexia Awareness Day with a day full of games, fun and laughter for the students who have this learning style. Karen Cothran, the dyslexia teacher, said it was a great day to celebrate the students and what amazing thinkers they are. She said twenty percent of the population share this unique learning style. “They are creative, wonderfully imaginative, innovative, problem-solvers and critical thinkers,” said Cothran. “They may perceive the written word differently, but they excel at insightful connections that others simply miss. These kids are ‘Breaking Through Barriers’ and their future is so bright!”
