Wylie’s new bass fishing team brings home three spots in the top 10 at their first fishing tournament!
Wylie West Junior High student Carson Beal placed 3rd at the Lone Star Junior Bassmaster’s Tournament, which took place at Hubbard Creek Reservoir July 2. Carson hooked 3 fish weighing in at 7.56 pounds to secure his spot in the top three. Team mates Carson Martin, who also attends Wylie West Junior High, placed 5th with 3 fish at 6.75 pounds, and Cash Stockard, who attends Wylie East Junior High, placed 9th with 2 fish weighing in at 4.72 pounds. The 11 to 14 year-old category was the largest of the groups, competing with 26 anglers. The tournament had 45 total anglers participate. There was a 3-fish maximum with anglers beginning early in the morning and weighing in at 1 p.m.
