Forty-Four Wylie band students qualified for the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition by earning Division 1 (Superior) ratings on their pieces at the regional competition.
The state competition is June 2-3 in Austin.
Another five soloists earned Division 1 ratings but did not advance to state, and six students earned Division 2 ratings at the regional competition. Soloists must perform their piece by memory to be eligible for state.
Wylie had 27 solo entries and 13 ensemble entries in the regional competition and brought home 57 medals.
