Foundation Dinner To Feature Footloose
The talents of Wylie’s theater students will be on full display at the 6th annual We Are Wylie Dinner in October.
The event, scheduled for Oct. 8, will feature an abbreviated version of the musical Footloose, performed by the Wylie Theater Department.
The dinner is the annual fundraiser for the Wylie Bulldogs Education Foundation and will be at 7 p.m. at Wylie High School. It will include a catered meal and a live auction, with all proceeds going to foundation programs.
Since its inception in 2010, the foundation has awarded 58 teacher grants for almost $75,000 to help bring cutting edge technologies and innovative programs to the classroom. The foundation also has awarded almost $60,000 in student scholarships during that span.
Each year, the dinner features entertainment by Wylie alumni or students. This year’s entertainment will be the opening night for the Theater Department’s production of Footloose and will feature a one-hour abbreviated performance of the well-known musical, featuring the most recognized songs and moments. Wylie Theater Arts Teacher Chris Shoemake is directing, and Wylie choir director Robin Davis is musical director. The Theater Department will present full versions of the musical on the weekend following the dinner.
To sponsor a table at the event or reserve a seat, go to the foundation website at www.WylieBulldogsEducationFoundation.com or call the Wylie Administration Office at 325-692-4353. Reservation forms also are available at Wylie High School and will be available at Meet the Bulldogs and home football games.
Table sponsorships begin at $500 for four seats, and individual seats are $100. Donors of $1,000 or more receive a preferred table for 8 and are listed in the program, and donors of $5,000 or more also will have their names listed on the scoreboard at 2015 home football games.
